About the job

We’re hiring a Freelance Chess Operations & Content Coordinator to help us stay on top of global chess events and keep our app and social channels fresh and up to date. The position is approximately 15-20 hours per week and you’ll work across tournament tracking, in-app updates, light editorial content, and community engagement—helping us maintain coverage and catch issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Track upcoming chess tournaments and add them to our internal systems and app

  • Follow up on tasks before, during, and after each event (add information, players, pairings, PGNs, results)

  • Monitor the app to ensure tournament coverage looks accurate and up to date

  • Keep our home page updated with highlights, results, and top moments

  • Write short in-app updates and edit photos or video clips as needed

  • Occasionally run our social media channels during events

  • Manage our Discord community and follow up social media engagement

  • Coordinate with the rest of the team to make sure coverage is smooth across time zones

We are looking for you who

  • Know your way around the chess world—tournaments, players, and formats

  • Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable juggling multiple tasks at a high pace

  • Write clearly and know how to make content engaging for casual fans

  • Have experience with basic photo and video editing and are familiar with the relevant tools

  • Enjoy bringing a bit of creativity and personality into your work

  • Are self-motivated and good at spotting issues or opportunities without being asked

  • Are open to occasionally working weekends or evenings, especially during major events

  • Bonus: Are based in India or the U.S. and available during European nighttime hours
